“On the 3rd of April I had rescued an injured pigeon found in my neighbours' garden. The bird had a wound on the right wing and some more wounds on the body also no movement in the legs. I gather the bird had been attacked by an animal.
I took the bird in, put the bird in a box with some towels and put the bird near the radiator and left the bird to rest from such a traumatic time. I had offered the bird water but the bird had refused that evening so I left the bird overnight to rest while searching for some help.
The next day the bird had really perked up, there was movement in the legs and wings slightly but very off balance. I continued to leave the bird while searching for help and left the bird in the sun in my living room to keep warm. I managed to find UK WILDLIFE TRANSPORTERS on Facebook and messaged them this morning asking if anyone could help this poor pigeon. Alana Hurd had messaged me back straight away within minutes and had found a driver to come and collect the pigeon from me and take it to a rescue to get the help that the bird needed.
Alana contacted me and spoke me through what would happen and gave me all the information I needed to help the pigeon while she had been searching for someone to help.
Hannah had been contacted by Alana to come and collect the pigeon and she drove straight to me and kept me updated with timings, she took the pigeon in a carrier with a clean towel and made sure the pigeon was safe for the journey. I honestly could not be more happy with the help that this group have done after searching for hours and hours for some help. The two people I have been in contact with were Alana and Hannah and both were absolutely amazing and so helpful and caring, you can really see the group are very caring and want the best for all wildlife. Thank you for being great.” - Hannah Eltonn
